GPIW Trap Range Rules (Version 1.7 revised November 17, 2015)
Each shooter is required to observe and comply with all range safety rules. If in doubt ask the range officer. As a firearms owner/user you are responsible for your actions.

Any Person/Member violating any rule is subject to having their range privileges revoked or expulsion from the Glen Park Chapter. The President, Rangemaster, or Board of Directors reserves the right to close the Range at their discretion.

1. All NRA & ATA safety and operation rules are to be followed in addition to the following rules.
2. Always keep your gun pointed in a safe direction.
3. Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot.
4. Always keep your shotgun unloaded with the action open until you are on a firing position and the trap house is clear.
5. Keep your gun pointed downrange at all times.
6. Never move from a station with a loaded gun.
7. After a rotation of stations is announced, firearms should not be loaded until the last shooter has arrived at his or her next station.
8. The trap field is NOT available if the orange cone is on top of the trap house or the light is on at the front of the trap house.
9. Wearing eye and hearing protection while on the trap field is MANDITORY.
10. No shot diameter size larger than #7 ½ is allowed. SEE CHART BELOW FOR SHOT SIZE DEFINITIONS.  No magnum loads are allowed.
11. Load only one shell for singles. Load only two shells for doubles or continental.
12. All duds and misfired shells must be removed from club grounds by the owner. Do not leave them on the ground or put them in the trash.
13. Always check the barrel with a ram-rod after any abnormal discharge.
14. The use of “Snap Caps” inside the trap club house or on the trap field is not allowed. If you have the need to use these in your shotgun, please do so in a safe area with your gun pointed in a safe and clear direction.
15. Pick up only your empties and only after your squad’s shooting is completed. Abandoned hulls may be collected on a first come first serve basis.
16. If an emergency cease fire is called, all firearms must be immediately unloaded and placed in a gun rack. Do not handle firearms during an emergency cease fire.
17. Only individuals that are shooting are permitted on the trap field unless they have the permission of the range officer before the round begins. Exceptions are made for coaches and first time shooter helpers.
18. Only authorized personnel are permitted forward of the 16 yard line.
19. No one under the age of 18 is allowed to shoot on the trap fields without the supervision of a parent, guardian, or designated adult. The range officer cannot be that designee.
20. No one shall discharge a firearm that they are not knowledgeable about or capable of operating. This does not preclude assistance while tutoring. The range officer has full discretion in such matters.
21. Shotgun sighting in and patterning are allowed only with the permission of a range officer and only in designated areas.
22. Individuals that have never shot trap before will be required to shoot their first round on a squad with other experienced shooters or under the supervision of an experienced individual authorized by the range officer.
23. Never use alcohol or drugs while or before shooting. No one may operate a firearm if they have consumed any alcohol.
24. Be courteous to other shooters and helpers.
25. Shooting is ONLY allowed during scheduled trap field operating hours and events. Hand throwing or use of personal throwers outside of the GPIW trap field operating hours is PROHIBITTED.
